Kate Hudson spent her morning celebrating her Oscar nomination with those who know and love her best. **

The actress tells * *that she learned of her Best Actress nomination for her performance in *Song Sung Blue *in the early morning hours with her daughter Rani Rose at her side — and that the rest of her famous family quickly came over to join in on the festivities. **

"It was dark, and my daughter was like, 'What is happening?' She doesn't usually sleep in our bed and she came in the middle of the night, so I turned on the television, and she was like, 'What are you doing?'" Hudson teases. "And I got to celebrate with my baby girl and it was just wonderful."

Her other loved ones came knocking soon afterward. "My family came over for coffee, and we just sat and talked about how lucky we all are to be in this business and how extraordinary it is," Hudson says. "We talked about all of the great movies and kind of unpacked the year, and I just feel super grateful to be a part of all of it. And that's what we did." **

What's fact and what's fiction in 'Song Sung Blue'

Written and directed by Craig Brewer,* Song Sung Blue* stars Hudson as Claire "Thunder" Sardina, a singer-songwriter who performs alongside her husband, Mike "Lightning" (Hugh Jackman), in the beloved Neil Diamond tribute band, "Lightning & Thunder." **

With the nomination, Hudson joins a star-studded Best Actress category that also includes Jessie Buckley (*Hamnet*), Rose Byrne (*If I Had Legs I'd Kick You*), Renate Reinsve (*Sentimental Value*), and Emma Stone (*Bugonia*). Hudson shares that she and her fellow nominees have already been giving each other their flowers over text. **

"We're all so excited for each other. It's just a great year and there's so much love. And I just feel so lucky to be a part of it," she says. "It's funny, when you've been in the business for over two decades, you get to know a lot of people and you all go through the different waves of the business and the industry, and so in moments like this, you look around and you've known a lot of these people since you we were teenagers. And so it's incredibly celebratory and there's been a lot of wonderful communication. It's a fun time. It's an exciting time for everybody."

This is Hudson's second Oscar nomination, and comes 25 years after she received a Best Supporting Actress nod for her performance as the iconic Band-Aid Penny Lane in* Almost Famous*. This nomination, however, feels "very different" than it did the first time around, Hudson says.

"I was so young. My career started at 20 and I never stopped working," she explains. "I was so lucky. And to get all of that sort of critical acclaim so early in my career was like having a really wild, huge invitation to the party — like, welcome to the business! — in a way that doesn't happen like that very often."**

Over the last 25 years, Hudson notes that she's experienced both "great success" and "great failures" alike. **

"I've been plugging away, as most artists do, and so for me now you just kind of feel it differently. You sit in it. You appreciate it. It's like having your third child, you soak all of it in more," she says. "You realize how wonderful it actually is to be a part of a movie that people are loving. I always say — I know everybody says the same thing — but it's incredibly inspiring. I feel like a huge ball of gratitude."**

And that emotion extends to the entire cast and crew who worked to make* Song Sung Blue* truly sing.**

"This morning, to me, is shared with every single person that I worked with on that film, from our grips and our camera operator to Hugh Jackman," she says. "We were a team. And you really think about all of the work that goes into making a movie, and so it's just, it's beautiful."
