Dave Coulier loves his role as a grandfather.
During his appearance on Today, the Full House alum, 66, opened up about what it's been like becoming a grandfather after his son, Luc, 33, welcomed his first baby, a son, with his wife Alex, on Thursday, March 27. Coulier told the outlet that he never imagined he'd love another person like his own son, but then his grandson came into the picture.
"You know, I never thought I was going to fall in love with another little boy like my own son, but [then] this little baby Chance [came] in our life, and he's the happiest kid," he said. "He falls asleep at night laughing. He'll go in his crib and just play."
He added, "I told my son and my daughter-in-law, I said, 'You are so lucky. You have no idea how good this kid is. It's fantastic.'"

Coulier first revealed to Parade in April that he became a grandfather, sharing his excitement with the outlet.
"We're so excited," Coulier told the outlet. "My son and his wife live in California, so we'll be making multiple trips to see that little boy."
Coulier also shared his excitement to prepare his Detroit-area home for when the new addition visits him and his wife Melissa.
"I have a lot to do. I built our home that I'm sitting in here," he said. "I went to contractor school, and it took me 17 months to build our home. So, there's lots of work to do here on the exterior of the home. I want to get out my tractor and keep planting trees and beautifying our home space."

In March, Dave Coulier was elated to learn that he was cancer-free after enduring a grueling seven months of chemotherapy to combat non-Hodgkin lymphoma, with which he was diagnosed in November 2024. When he recently went for his sixth-month check-up and PET scan, doctors told him something had flared up in the area where his tongue meets the throat. Further tests revealed a shocking new diagnosis: p16 squamous carcinoma, a type of head and neck cancer.
For Coulier, telling his son Luc about his initial diagnosis was especially "tough," as he was gearing up to welcome his baby boy with his wife. However, with his grandson's birth being a month after Coulier finished chemotherapy, this new journey gave the actor "a lot to look forward to" during the hard times. The Fuller House star shared with PEOPLE that he's excited to introduce his future grandson to all his favorite hobbies, including hockey and airplanes.
"You talk about an apple not falling far from the tree. My son Luc plays hockey three days a week," he said of his son, whom he shares with ex-wife Jayne Modean. "I used to take him up flying with me when he was a baby, and now he's a pilot for FedEx."
