The "Tangled" fandom is absolutely swooning over the news that Kathryn Hahn is donning the mantle of Mother Gothel in the live-action remake.
For those unaware of the storyline, the "Agatha All Along" star will be portraying the cunning and manipulative Mother Gothel. She plays the mastermind who kidnaps Rapunzel as a baby and raises her as her own to maintain her youth and beauty.
The "Bad Moms" actor dropped the bombshell on Instagram, sharing a playful Out of the Day (OOTD) video. The clip captioned "OOTD, Mother Gothel" shows her rocking a black t-shirt featuring the villainous character's face.
Kathryn Hahn pulled out all the stops, embracing her inner Mother Gothel with some playful social media updates. The actor switched up her Instagram username to "Mother Hahn". If that wasn't enough, she also her bio to read "Mother knows best", a cheeky nod to the Tangled reference.

Netizens absolutely adored the move and took no time in flooding social media with excited reactions over the "perfect casting". "BEST CASTING EVER," tweeted a fan under Pop Base's X (formerly Twitter) post. "Oh I see her as Mother Gothel," echoed another. "Usually I'm the first one to complain about Disney live-actions, but I'm shutting my mouth for this one. This isn't just casting, it's a spiritual awakening," read a fan comment.
In a sweet nod of approval, Donna Murphy, who originally voiced Mother Gothel in the 2010 animated classic, sent a heartfelt message to Kathryn Hahn. "From one Mother to another… Congrats! And remember… I love you MOST," she wrote.
Filming of Disney's live-action "Tangled" is slated to start in mid-2026, with a possible release in 2027 or later.
