Oliver Tree spoke about how fleeting life was in an interview recorded shortly before his tragic death.
The late musician appeared on the latest episode of The Really Good Podcast on Monday, June 29, where he spoke about how "high risk" he lived his life.
While reflecting on his relationship with his parents, Tree (real name Oliver Tree Nickell) spoke about making every moment count.
"As I get older, I realize how important [family] is," he told host Bobbi Althoff. "And my parents, they're like, 'Oliver, it's a lot to travel all the time.' And I was like, 'Guys, look like we don't know if I'll be alive next year or you'll be alive, like there's no day promised.'"

Tree then noted that he often ends up in precarious situations.
"Do you know how high risk I live my life? Actually, for real," he told Althoff, 28.
Tree recalled spending the last two years "living in poo huts in Africa" and "mud houses in Iraq."
He then noted he was planning a trip with his friend to Turkmenistan, Iraq and Syria.
"I never trusted humanity more," said Tree. "I put my hand blindly into people's arms, and I never had more trust. I never felt more love to humans. I never felt more connected."
Tree was one of six people who died in a helicopter accident in Brazil on June 14. He was 32.

At the time, PEOPLE reached out to Tree's reps, but did not receive an immediate response.
Per CNN Brazil, Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim and Lucas Brito Chaves were among the other passengers who died in the accident. The pilots were Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac.
It was reported by the that there were no survivors.
In a statement obtained by PEOPLE, the Civil Police of the State of Rio de Janeiro confirmed the crash.
Police said that the investigation was "ongoing" and that a "forensic examination was conducted at the scene."
"Agents are awaiting the report from the Center for Investigation and Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents,” they added at the time.
In the statement, police also said that the bodies of the six victims would "undergo forensic examination for identification."
The investigation remains ongoing to determine the cause of the aircraft crash.
One week after Tree's death, his team revealed plans to establish a foundation in his memory.
In a post on his official Instagram account, Tree's team revealed that his body had been transported back to his home in California and that his legacy would continue "through his foundation/endowment named 'Dr. Oliver Tree's Extremely Epic Grant For Baby Geniuses.'"
"This is something that Oliver had put together before his passing, written in his will. We will make sure his wish comes to fruition so that more joy, love and art can be spread into the world. That was his final wish," the post concluded.
