- Quentin Tarantino says he "can't stand" Owen Wilson.
- Nevertheless, the *Kill Bill* filmmaker has ranked Woody Allen's *Midnight in Paris*, which stars Wilson, as his 10th favorite movie of the 21st century.
- Tarantino said that the first time he saw the film, he was "loving it and hating [Wilson]."
Quentin Tarantino is decidedly not a fan of Owen Wilson.
The *Django Unchained* filmmaker expressed his distaste for the *Wedding Crashers* star during a recent appearance on *The Bret Easton Ellis Podcast*.
"I really can't stand Owen Wilson," Tarantino opined. "I mean, I can't stand him."
Nevertheless, the *Jackie Brown* director still named Woody Allen's *Midnight in Paris*, which features Wilson in the leading role, as his 10th favorite movie of the 21st century.

"I spent the first time watching the movie loving it and hating him," Tarantino said of his experience with Allen's film. "The second time I watched the movie, I was like, 'Ah, okay, don't be such a prick. He's not so bad. He's not so bad.' And then the third time I watched it, I found myself *watching him*."
Representatives for Wilson didn't immediately respond to **'s request for comment on Tarantino's remarks.
Wilson's performance in *Midnight in Paris* was widely lauded at the time of the film's release. He received a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture — Comedy or Musical, and also received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Best Ensemble with his castmates.
On the podcast, Tarantino offered his analysis of how Allen made one movie per year, on average, for most of his career. "How does Woody Allen do it? How does Woody Allen write these scripts, one a year, for so long?" he asked. "Well, if you put them under a microscope, you can kinda see how he does it. One, he's not *really* writing movies, he's writing short stories that he expands to feature length."

In Tarantino's eyes, Allen prioritized quantity over quality. "Usually to the detriment of the movie, he films first drafts," he opined. "If he were to take one of these and spend a year writing it and go through draft two, three, four, just to see what would happen, God knows what they would be! But he wouldn't make as many movies, and I don't think that interests him. I think he likes writing — get it done, and move onto the next one."
However, Tarantino thinks *Midnight in Paris* feels more polished and carefully crafted than Allen's other projects. "This looks like he actually might have written a third draft," he said. "This was fully baked."

Tarantino said he particularly appreciated the depiction of a group of early-20th-century artists whom Wilson's character interacts with via time travel. "The surrealists were really funny," he said. "I like the idea that he's trying to describe his time travel thing to them, and it's the only people who completely get it. Well of course you get it, you're surrealists!"**
